Wooden Doll House Vintage Large Lawbre 3/8 Wood Shell Nantucket Doors Windows. The Lawbre Company began making premium doll houses with quality materials and fine workmanship some 30 years ago. Originally located in Mundelein, Illinois, they began with a niche market to the affluent North Shore suburbs of Chicago. Now in Cortland, Ohio, Lawbre sells artisan doll houses worldwide. They are considered to make the finest doll houses manufactured today, described as Museum Quality. This is an authentic vintage Lawbre doll house called the The Nantucket. " It is a " New England inspiration, rich in interior and exterior architectural detail. This style is no longer made. Built of 3/8 Mill-cut Plywood in very good condition, it is excellent extremely sturdy, compared to the flimsy punch-out and slot designs of many doll house kits on today's market. Like all Lawbre models, the Nantucket was built either as a fully-assembled shell or as a finished house. It has 3 Floors, 9 Rooms, and is huge: 52" wide, 19" deep and 31 high.
One inch to one foot scale (1:12). The first floor ceiling height is 10"h, the second floor is 9"h, and the 3rd floor attic is 8h.
4 Rooms & the attic are 17 3/4" deep, 2 rooms are 12 5/8"deep, and the French Door room is 10 3/8 deep. The floor with the second floor stairwell opening is removable/reversible, offering 3 choices for the stairway location. Lawbre currently offers a variety of scale architectural decorations to customize this Doll House.
This Nantucket is about 25 years old. We are the second owner. We believe we received almost all original parts, based on the parts list, including the 16 12-Light Windows and all interior/exterior window trim, the functioning Doors w/attractive pediments, exposed kitchen beams, and the one-landing, two-rail Staircase & its railing set. Although this Doll House is no longer made, many of its parts are still available at Lawbre. While new windows have improved trim, size & structure remain similar, and many other parts are identical.
Other parts are simply no longer available. Included in this listing w/the large Nantucket Doll House are. French Door w/decorative Pediment and trim (no longer available). 5 exposed interior ceiling beams.

Photo sales page of the Lawbre Nantucket (w/owner's names for rooms marked in pen) and 2 marigold-colored double-sided instruction pages (1 Page cut and missing bottom 1 of page). Provides parts list, house options, the directions for Trim for the Pediment Tall 12-Light Working Windows, the Short 12-Light Windows, and the French Door. Because the Main Entrance Door and terrace instructions are not mentioned, there was probably a third page (missing, although both can be put together w/o direction). Missing from parts list: 3 Terrace wall pieces, 2 exterior gable 1 square decorative trim pieces, and 2 horizontal exterior decorative trim pieces. The staircase, railing set, main six-anel entrance door, and inside trim on all windows have been stained a mahogany brown.
Due to incandescent lighting, this wood in photos appears red brown like cherry wood, but the stain, when compared with stain colors samples, is mahogany brown. Because Mom used the doll house as a "cabinet" for miniature displays, no alterations to the Nantucket were made, except for adding a small ceiling hook to one room and adding a removable, optional floor to the beam loft (French Door room).
Small roof squeaks when opened & can be can be lightly sanded to remedy. But, installation of the exposed beam under this roof may also resolve this sound. 1 Staircase Bannister tips inward (photo 8). Removable/Reversible 2nd Floor Stairwell Floor has a slight bow on the edge closest to the stairwell cut.
When the floor is pressed firmly in the center, this unevenness is leveled. Securing the floor permanently should resolve this concern. 5 of the Tall 12-Pane Windows fit easily, and 7 will require some sanding of the rough cut for ease of installation. 1 Short 12-Light Window fits easily, and the others will require sanding to the rough cut.
Because the rough cut can be covered by exterior trim, we recommend sanding the cut rather than the window frames to avoid damaging the frame strength or ability of sashes to open w/ease. (Plastic slips for windows were labeled with locations, and we have placed a star on those that fit easily). Both Short 12-Light Windows for the Dormers will need trimming of the lower sills to install properly. More photos available upon request, incl.
