It measures 22 high to the peak of the roof. The base measures 12 deep x 24 wide. This exceptional house has four charming rooms with wonderfully unique and detailed fireplaces. The exterior fretwork is beautifully done and the windows are glass. The front door, with its sweet glass doorknob, opens to a central foyer and carpeted stairway that leads to an upper landing.
All the rooms have working hinged doors with the exception of one in which the hinges are broken. Three switches operate the power to ceiling lights and the glowing flames in the four fireplaces. When I was preparing to photograph the house all four fireplaces worked with a 6-volt battery and really looked lovely. Unfortunately I couldnt get them to work again for the photos so some electrical restoration will definitely be required. The roof can be removed on one side, with four screws, to reveal the location for the battery (not included) and wiring. It will require a dollhouse electrician to get it working again.
The exterior walls must have had brick patterned paper originally but the walls are now painted green. There is some wear to the house consistent with age but generally it is in great condition. The heavy paper-like material that covers the exterior wall, on the back, on one side of the peak of the roof has separated from the wood behind it. Please look for this in the photos. There is some loss and chipping of patterned paper and paint on both interior and exterior but generally the condition of this house is very fine considering it is almost 100 years old.One of the special charms of this house is the quality of the details; the fireplaces, the front door, interior doors, windows and the carpeted stairway are all wonderful. The interiors have hand painted and wall papered surfaces. The paper in the living room and bedroom has been replaced on a couple of the walls but most of the original paint and paper are still intact. Each room has dark brown thin linoleum carpet and floors painted in faux wood grain.
The scale of the house is 1/16 or 3/4 = 1. The interior doors measure an actual 5 1/8, which translates to 610 in 3/4 scale. The furniture and vintage Caco man and woman are included with the house. Everything you see in the photos is included. The amazing Strombecker furniture was recently assembled from vintage Strombecker kits, then painted, and is a perfect ¾ scale for this delightful house. Even the adorable dog comes with the house! 186 vintage house made from a kit by Hobbies of Dereham in England. Also I will include a reduced copy of the instructions for building this house that I found on an Australian website. You can search Hobbies of Dereham No. 186 Special on the internet to find out more about the history of these wonderful dollhouses. They had imported it from England. The Department 56 stone wall (14 pieces), winter trees (4 small, 4 medium, 2 large fir and 2 bare branch), 2 poinsettia plants, two potted box hedge, are included. The four holly bushes on stone pillars are the only items you see in the photos that are not included. This is an exceptional charming antique dollhouse, beautifully furnished, in wonderful condition! The contents of the house will all be packed separately. Some of the fittings and accessories such as the shower, the light above the bathroom sink, some of the shelves, the curtains, etc. Are quake or museum waxed to the walls to avoid damaging the house and to leave it in original condition.
I suggest using quake wax to reinstall these items. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!
